Bachelor of Arts Illustration

As an aspiring illustrator I am thrilled by the worlds you can create and the yet undiscovered possibilities that can be used or put into practice.

I try to put the way I see the world into my illustrations because, for me, the beauty is in the smallest details.

Working with children and the childlike creativity is immensely fascinating to me and I am curious what else can arise out of that.

What does the lion do after he did his hair? You decide his path! Who is he talking to and what’s being said? Maybe you can even imitate his voice.

Everything along the lines of: what’s happening here?

This game proposes the possibility to let your creativity flow and experience something that does not follow a linear path.

As a child I was 100% sure that no grown up could read and everybody was making the words in the books up as they read them to me. And because kids are much better at telling stories than grown ups, my project came into life. I wanted to create a new type of game that would make creative storytelling accessible.

The game is based on a principle called myriorama, where you place segments of a landscape on paper next to each other to create ever new landscapes.

Building my game I decided to work with magnets to reduce the difficulty of placing the segments exactly next to each other. That way the game can be played by small children, as well as people with a tremor, for example after a stroke or beginning dementia.

The game contains six characters that you choose from to begin playing and after that you put the story segments together in any order you wish. That enables 244 different stories to be told.

First I want to thank Felix Scheinberger and Meike Staats for the mentoring and the always honest cristicism. Thank you to my parents for the trust and support. I thank David for thousands of encouraging words and that you always stood by my side. Last I want to thank my friends, who made the studies what they were.
