Bachelor of Arts Media Design

Maybe it wasn’t my smartest idea to dive into a completely new medium (VR) for my bachelor’s degree, but I had a lot of fun doing it. Actually, as a generalist, I can’t help it. After all, doing something that only relies on things I’m comfortable with would be boring. I’m excited to see what’s in store for me after the Bachelor 🙂

An animated short film about all the things in our household, that guests would have a hard time with.

We don’t really feel at home until we’ve gotten used to all the little peculiarities. Only after some time have we found out at which setting the shower water reaches the perfect temperature, or how deep and at what angle we have to push and turn the key so that the door finally opens. All of this then eventually becomes a habit, but would take some getting used to for a guest. For my project “Quirk” I searched for these stories and created an animated film inspired by them. My bachelor project doesn’t deal with an existential question, it is supposed to show the versatility of these little quirks, which we have arranged ourselves with at some point instead of fixing them. I realized the short film in a VR program (modeling and animation), but the medium is not a VR application.

Thank you to everyone who participated in my surveys 🙂 and Mr. Tietz, as he very rarely made fun of me wearing VR goggles! Also, thanks to the delicious sugar waffles from LIDL and my girlfriend (Not necessarily in that order).
