When the song “Kill me (Baby Blue)” by the band Dead Soft appeared in my Spotify playlist, I immediately had images in my head while listening to it. There was no music video for it and so the idea of realizing my vision of a visual language to match the song was established.

The song is about letting go of a loved one. The lyrics describe the perspective of a person who is happy about the newfound freedom and detachment from another person. She says “If you want, kill me in your dreams” suggesting that the other person is having a hard time detaching. It would help her to kill her in her dreams. In my music video, I transport the plot through two young women. The protagonist can’t let go of the other person, sees her everywhere, in her dreams, in reality and as imagination. The “killing in the dream” metaphorically embodies the process of letting go.

I especially want to thank the band Dead Soft for letting me use their song for my bachelor thesis. A big thank you also goes to the Bürgerbad Handorf for allowing me to use the swimming pool as a filming location. And of course I would like to thank my actresses Lia and Emma for their commitment, as well as my cameraman Luca for the technical support.
