Bachelor of Arts Media Design

I am a media designer with a passion for photography and film. Since I can remember I have been interested in cameras. It all started with my father’s cameras and it has become much more than just a hobby. I love capturing the moment and people with their emotions with the art of photography. During my studies I discovered the medium film for myself – from the preparation, the collaboration on set, playing with lights and perspectives as well as further processing, and finally to the finished film. With moving images, moods and feelings can be conveyed and stories are told.

The film tells the story of a young woman who experienced violence in a partnership in her teen years. This story is read from her diary by different women.

“Violence inside relationships is the most widespread violence against women, affecting 30 percent of all women worldwide,” according to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO). Women of all ages and from all social classes are victims of domestic violence. In addition to physical, sexual violence and deprivation of liberty, women also experience more subtle forms of violence in the psychological, emotional or social spheres. But most of all, the shame of those affected, the cover-up by the perpetrators, the turning a blind eye by fellow men and the trivialization by society prevent the spiral of violence from being broken.

The film is about the story of a young woman who experienced violence in a partnership in her teen years. Different narrators read from the diary of the young woman. It is not decided which of these women the story belongs to but rather suggests that it could have happened to anyone.

At this point I would like to say a special thank you to Leah, Pia and Kim. That you help me to tell and embody the story and you represent the topic with your voice and your face. I am also very grateful to my family and friends for sharing and helping me. For always being there for me and supporting me in everything.

A big thank you to Henning and Hendrik for the honest feedback and good support. And at the end a few words to the woman whose story I am allowed to tell: You are incredibly strong and it is very brave to make the story public. I am proud of you!
