I’m Sarah Alt and I’m doing my bachelor’s degree in illustration. I enjoy illustrating non-fiction books the most, so I decided to do a travel guide as my bachelor project. My goal is to make the world more colorful with my illustrations.

An illustrated travel guide about the Ruhr area, which presents a variety of travel destinations. It should convince people to visit it and discover great places.

I have set myself the goal to visit each of the districts in the Ruhr area, to find the most interesting places and present them in a book. I have illustrated each place to show how beautiful the Ruhr area is. It has many impressive places to offer from industrial culture, heaps, parks, and a wide range of leisure activities to breathtaking landscapes. The image of the grey and dirty “Pott” is no longer up-to-date, countless colorful, attractive offers invite you to explore it. Many large cities are lined up next to each other and are excellently linked by motorways and rail networks. It is easy to visit several cities in a short amount of time. My book is intended to create curiosity about the Ruhr area and encourage people to get to know it better.

I would like to thank everyone who supported me during my studies. Especially the good reviews from professors and fellow students helped me to improve and not to stand still. I’m also very grateful for my mom, who often gave me useful suggestions to improve my projects.
